The at-large bids and brackets come out later this week, but I went through the numbers and here’s my best guess at who will be getting the respective at-large bids for the upcoming NCAA Division I championships.
I don’t have any inside information, but I do have the previous coaches rank, RPI and every single result. For the most part, my methodology was simple. I first went with the wrestlers who qualified the bids for their respective conferences. That’s not always going to work for at-larges as I do expect some wrestlers who earned allocations to not get in because their entire season comes under scrutiny and can’t ride on name recognition and previous credentials for rankings, etc.
I did not include every potential athlete in the bubble, because there’s a number of criteria to consider when selecting the at-large bids.
So here’s what I’m guessing. I’ll come back later in the week to see how close I got.
