While the 2022 FISU University World Cup Combat Sports has recently concluded, one legacy from the ten day event will be the potential for new wrestling referees able to officiate at future competitions. This comes from a joint programme between FISU and United World Wrestling (UWW) for a new refereeing in wrestling course that was held in Samsun 23-25 September.

USA Wrestling, FloWrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum has published the Preseason Rankings for high school girls wrestlers for the 2022-23 season. This national ranking evaluates all girls enrolled in grades 8-12, and athletes from all 50 states are eligible for selection.

Danvers St. John’s Preparatory became the first Massachusetts school to win the team title since 2007. Danbury, CT had a two-year title streak snapped. The tournament was not contested in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so there were no multi-time champions.
