On Episode 10 of the World Wrestling Resource Podcast, we're joined by Jon McGovern, Dennis Hall and Terry Brands to look at some of the topics related this month in wrestling.
We'll get an idea of what the University of Iowa is thinking as they head to Minneapolis on January 30 with a No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup against the top-ranked Gophers. Key bouts there are at 174 pounds with Iowa's Mike Evans and Minnesota's Logan Storley as well as the 184-pound tilt between Iowa's Sam Brooks and Minnesota's Brett Pfarr.
Coach Brands also breaks down what a wrestler like Mike Kelly has to do when going into a bout with an unorthodox and wild wrestler like Dylan Ness.
Dennis Hall gives his thoughts on the change in format from the Jack Pinto Cup held on January 25 in Colorado Springs and all three coaches chime in about the importance of the Dave Schultz Memorial International held Jan. 29-31 in Colorado Springs.
There's also a breakdown of acclimation and performance as it relates to events in the U.S. versus events overseas and the performance of Brent Metcalf at the Yarygin in Siberia last week.
The last part of the discussion involves all three coaches and their take on the modifications United World Wrestling has introduced with mat colors, official attire and the move away from the singlet.
